Ibn Jasper x Converse Pro Leather
skater/designer and stylist Ibn Jasper and Converse come together to create a version of the Converse Pro Leather.
The shoe’s “aesthetic is based on a photo of Dr. J. walking into the arena with an all-white outfit, Jasper said. “He looks like he just stepped off of the runway”, “How can I distill this image and vibe into a capsule collection?’.” Worn by Julius Erving during the ‘70s and ‘80s, Ibnis is moldimg basketball, skating, and musicinto one shoe.
Thi remake comes with a White leather upper and a Grey suede overlap at the midsole. The aesthetics of the shoe honors Erving’s sophisticated style, offering itself up as an homage to the player’s legacy within Basketball.
Details that honor Erving’s sophisticated style include embossed Roman numerals near the collar, a zipper that runs vertically down the lacing area, a “1976” lace jewel, which is the year the shoe came out.
The tongue gets a snakeskin look, , embossed Stripe and Star logos on the heel and side panels, and metallic stitched detailing on the lateral. And for finishing touches a pink leather interior and a cream-colored outsole.
Look for the Ibn Jasper x Converse Pro Leather to release on September 26th at select retailers and Converse.com for the retail price of $120.
