Pirates Pitcher Felipe Vazquez Arrested for Solicitation of a Child

Pittsburgh Pirates  relief pitcher Felipe Vazquez was arrested on Tuesday in Pennsylvania for  one count of computer pornography, solicitation of a child, and one count of providing obscene material to minors, Jeff Passan  from ESPN reports.

 Last month the Florida Department of Law Enforcement launched an investigation into possibility of Vazquez engaging in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl that stayed in Lee County, which may have started when she was only 13.

As part of their investigation, Authorities seized several electronic devices from  Vasquez’s apartment in Pittsburgh. 

Jeff Passan reported that the girl received a text  from Vazquez in July “in which he is shown performing a sex act,” as well as messages saying that the two would meet up for sex when the 2019 season ended.

 TMZ reported that the child’s mother is the one who found the “concerning images and video” on her daughter’s phone.

She actually confronted  Vasquez by text message to let him know that  he was interacting with  a minor before going to authorities with her story. Vazquez is facing  two third-degree felony charges, but more could be on the way, Each charge carries up to 5 years in prison.

Pirates president Frank Coonelly made the following statement in regards to Vazquez’s troubles. 

Vazquez is on administrative leave by the MLB until further notice.
