Top ten funk flex freestyles

D.J Funk Master Flex has his own show on HOT97.FM, the Funk Flex Show.  Flex helped Hot 97 to become the first pop station in New York to showcase rap.

His show is really known for the freestyles that his guest drop, Flex has had everybody from Jay Z from the Hard “Knock Life Era”, to A Boogie. So this wasn’t an easy list to put together, but here is my Top Ten Funk Flex Freestyles.

#10 cory gunz

Son of Peter Gunz, Cory has made hit songs with artists like Rihanna’s  “If It’s Lovin’ that You Want” and Lil Wayne’s “6 foot 7 foot”.

#9 J.I.D

J.I.D had a Pontiac G6 that was given to him by Oprah. She gave them out to audience attendees in 2004, and J.I.D was there. He drove it in college and even lived in the car when he had tuff times.

#8 oun p

Oun P is  respected  in New York’s freestyle battle rap scene, competing in organizations like Fight Klub, and made an appearance on Showtime on the Apollo at the age of nine.

#7 Meek mill

Everyone knows who Meek is, so here’s something you might not know. When he was a kid, along with three friends they formed The Bloodhoundz. They bought blank CDs and jewel cases from Kinko’s, and had friends help burn them with the group’s songs and distribute them.

#6 Cyhi the prince

Georgia born rapper CYHI The Prince first signed with Akon’s Konvict Muzik in 2009, then joined Kanye West’s Good Music a year later. CYHI ghostwrited for Kanye on tracks like “New Slaves” and “Black Skinhead.”

#5 Royce Da 5'9

Royce’s first record deal was in 1998 with Tommy Boy Records for $1 million.  Dr. Dre‘s Aftermath Entertainment offered him $250,000 and unlimited beats at the same time, which he turned down, in what Royce expressed as his “biggest regret”.

#4 tory lanez

When Tory was 17-years-old, he sent his ‘Play For Keeps’ mixtape to Drake, betting Drake $10k if he would like it.  Drake never got back to him, which was the start of a six year rivalry. Tory’s remix of Drake’s controlla has over 8.3 million plays on soundcloud.

#3 Albee al

The New Jersey rapper Albee Al caught a murder case and spent four years in prison awaiting trial, he was acquitted of those charges in 2014. Albee is a prime example of how grinding hard and not giving up pays off.

#2 mysonne

There is alot of people who don’t even know who Mysonne is, that’s because he got locked up for seven years for armed robbery in 2000. He was with Def Jam at the time and about to drop his first album, but it was put on hold until he got out. Mysonne has tried to come back, but has struggled.

#1 Black Thought

Alot of people know Black Thought from his work with the Roots, he’s also been in movies like Bamboozled and perfume. This freestyle goes on for 10 minutes and 55 seconds, he killed it, and without a doubt this is the best Funk Flex freestyle.
